Al Gore on Gay Marriage and Promiscuous Behavior

The video buzz right now is about this interesting or odd video that Al Gore did and posted to current tv (one of his projects apparently).

It’s about how gay men and women ought to have the same rights as heterosexual men and women; including marriage rights. Watch the clip and then I’ll comment on it.

Al’s words were all fine and dandy with me until he got to this part: “Shouldn’t we be promoting the kind of faithfulness and loyalty to ones partner regardless of sexual orientation? Because if you don’t do that then to that extent you’re promoting promiscuity and you’re promoting all the problems that can result from promiscuity.”

Hmmm…Al, I’m not officially married but I am gay and I’ve been a steady monagmous relationship for over 8 years; I hardly think that I’m promiscuous. And although some gay men and women may be promiscuous, there’s plenty of hetrosexual men and women who are promiscuous regardless of their marriage status too.

So close but no cigar for Al. A good start in re-aligning his thinking perhaps?…Maybe.
