Even More Updates on the MRSA USA300 Story

Filed Under Health, Sex | February 6th, 2008

First there was news in January that Gay Men are Vulnerable to a Drug-resistant Strain of Staph Infection, then there were some interesting follow ups to that story.

I posted about that, along with my concerns here: More on MRSA USA300.

As it turns out, and I only found out today, via a article that was published today, The University of California, San Francisco issued on the 18th of January an apology for releasing a report that contained some information that could be interpreted as misleading. In addition they have published some news on: Gay Men & Staph: UCSF’s Study & Its Aftermath.

The SF Weekly, has this article today: Staph Infection Coverage Generates Gay Health Hysteria (which is the article I was just talking about), in it they take on The San Francisco Chronicle’s handling of this story.
