WASHINGTON, D.C. — The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force has announced that the city of Denver, Colo., will host The 21st National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change, Jan. 28–Feb. 1, 2009. The Creating Change conference (as it is affectionately known) is sponsored, organized and produced by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.

The National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change is the premier national grassroots organizing and skills building LGBT conference. The 2008 Creating Change conference was held in Detroit, Mich., and attracted over 2000 LGBT rights advocates. The conference is well known for providing a unique environment where activists and leaders come together from diverse places and backgrounds to create a community that is both strengthening and inspiring to the participants. Now we are bringing our really big show to Denver!

All are invited to attend an open community informational meeting on Thurs., March 20, at 7 p.m. in the community/training room at the offices of the Gill Foundation. Conference organizers Russell Roybal and Sue Hyde will be there to explain all the details of the Creating Change conference.

Russell and Sue’s visit will launch the organizing process of the 2009 Host Committee, a group of dedicated volunteers who work with the conference organizers throughout the year to roll out the Mile High red carpet for attendees, guests and Creating Change visitors to Denver. This past year, over 75 community members and leaders from the great state of Michigan joined the 2008 Host Committee to help organize one of the most successful Creating Change conferences ever held.

“Volunteers with energy, interest and passion for social change and LGBT equality — we need your help,” said Russell Roybal. “Please join us for a evening of conversation, refreshments and levity.”
