Women I AdoreMother’s Day is coming up and as I don’t post on Sunday’s and as I’ll be with my mom anyway, its time to honour the women whom I adore for their inspiration to me.

1. My Mom: Top of the list of course. Mother of 4, Grandmother of many, (I’ve lost count but she would know); a strong, loving woman who’s been through the battles.

2. Juliette: For lack of a better description, Juliette is my ’sister in-law’. When we finally met at her daughter’s wedding a couple of years ago it was like meeting a long lost friend.

3. Lily Tomlin and Bette Midler: Yes, I know that’s 2 women… I watched their movie, Big Business again recently and haven’t laughed so hard in a long time. It was a perfect pairing. These two women make me smile and laugh.

4. Carly Simon: One of my all-time favorite songs from Carly is ‘Let the River Run’; it’s just so beautiful. I have a photograph of Carly, taken in the early 80’s when she was pregnant; strategically placed in my condo so that whenever I come in or out of the condo I have to look at it. Her smile just glows and I have to smile back – it puts me in a good frame of mind.

5. Cyndi Lauper: I’ve always had a thing for Cyndi – its just one of those things. I seem to recall seeing her on TV in the 80’s and having my heart captured forever.

6. Queen Latifah: I can’t remember when I first ‘discovered’ Queen Latifah – but when I did it was like a light bulb going on – Ohhhh! A strong, beautiful, large woman with loads of talent.

7. HM The Queen: What can I say…I’m a loyalist and The Queen has always had a special place in my heart. She’s the mother of four children and grandmother of eight grandchildren (so far); that can’t be easy. (Kinda like my mom in that regard really.)
