Zoom Vacations received the PlanetOut Travel Award for Best Small Tour Operator at the PlanetOut Awards in Las Vegas this month. Since 1994, PlanetOut’s annual awards have recognized the best of the best in gay travel, and are decided by a panel of LGBT travel experts.
The 2008 PlanetOut Travel Award for Best Small Tour Operator comes on the heals of Out Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Small Gay Tour Provider, which was voted on by the general public.
In 2007 Zoom Vacations also received the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association award for Best Website Promoting Gay Travel.
These three distinct awards given to Zoom Vacations: one by the general public, one by a panel of experts and one by an international travel association, sets Zoom Vacations apart from all the rest in the industry.
Bryan Herb, Zoom Vacations Co-Founder said, “Our level of customization and our attention to detail is second to none. Everyone at Zoom Vacation is passionate and in some ways obsessed with travel, and with the fine details that can make travel life-changing and truly special. It would be tough to work here if one didn’t share this philosophy. We put in a lot of hours, but when you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work.”
Bryan was also a featured travel expert on the Travel Channel’s Vacation Challenge, which aired in 2006, and is the South American gay travel expert for the gay and lesbian travel show, Bump which airs on OutTV, a Canadian television network catering to the lesbian and gay community.
Co-Founder Joel Cabrera said, “One of the things that set us apart is that we create our own over-the-top events and experiences in every destination. We don’t just stamp on name on existing tours that anyone could do on their own and that look like everyone else’s. Rather, we take the best aspects and excursions a destination has to offer and we sort of turn up the volume and add elements that turn the ordinary into the extra-ordinary. Our products and offerings are constantly evolving to keep up with the needs and wants of gay and lesbian travel and in 2008 we will be rolling out a whole new set of trips that are unlike anything out there and that are sure to be a big hit.”
Zoom Vacations is most known for its highly customized trips through South and Central America, and to South Africa. They also offer luxury yachting voyages and gay-themed trips to Sydney Australia for Mardi Gras and Amsterdam for Gay Pride.
