George Takei to be Among First to Get Marriage License in West Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, (PRNewswire-USNewswire) — On the historic first day* that marriage licenses will be offered to gay and lesbian couples in California, Star Trek’s George Takei and his partner Brad Altman will be among the first to get their license. Takei, 71 and Altman, 54 have been together for 21 years.
They will join West Hollywood City Council members and others for the opening of the facility where hundreds are expected to get a license, and where many will have a marriage ceremony, in beautifully decorated marriage cabanas, officiated by West Hollywood City Council members.
Other couples who will get their license and/or marry include:
- Lambda Legal’s Jenny Pizer, 48 and Doreena Wong, 56 together 24 years
- LA Gay & Lesbian Center’s Lorri L. Jean, 51 and Gina Calvelli, 51, together 16 years
- Wendy Averill, 65 and Marilee France, 66, together 23 years
- Juan Rivera, 41 and Eric Manriquez, 41, together 5 years
- Lisa Belsanti, 38 and Rebecca Luckett, 36, together 12 years
- Geoff Scowcroft, 46 and Peter Wolf, 46, together 12 years
- Paul Park, 34, and Dean Larkin, 43, together 10 years
Where: West Hollywood Park (NOT City Hall) 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. (just south of Santa Monica Blvd.)
When: Tuesday, June 17th
8:30 a.m. – West Hollywood Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies
9 a.m. – Takei and others receive marriage license
9 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Licenses issued, civil marriages performed
