It is truly an exciting month for Centaur as we celebrate our 11th year of Pride the best way we know how – with music. High-energy, uplifting, feel-good, familiar songs, remixed for everyone’s enjoyment. Pride 2008 would not be complete without Party Groove: Pride 08 from Centaur’s trademark Pride series, mixed by New York’s Dj Max Rodriguez. This new release will be available on iTunes and in stores nationwide on June 24.
Party Groove: Pride 08 offers something for everyone, drawing on four decades of music that feature a balanced blend of male and female vocals. The newest mix includes 12 songs that will take you on a journey through time, criss-crossing genres and eras with familiar lyrics and melodies, while offering a new perspective on songs that we know and love, including remakes of seven songs that previously reached the #1 position on Billboard.
“DJ Max Rodriguez has become an incredible asset to the Centaur family since taking on the Pride CD three years ago,” says Centaur’s Jamie Baxter. “The history and joyous power of Centaur’s trademark Pride series has prospered because of his talents in selecting upbeat, energetic and happy songs that people love and embrace. He knows how to make us smile.”
Rodriguez calls New York’s Chelsea establishment Splash Bar (SBNY) his Dj home base, where he has held residency since it opened in 1991. Since arriving in the city from his native New Orleans, Rodriguez has been the featured Dj at New York City Pride several times, played at legendary nightclubs including Palladium, Limelight and Roxy, and he has also been a musical consultant for the VH1 Fashion & Music Awards.
Party Groove: Pride 08 once again offers plenty for everyone, providing updated dance remixes of some of the biggest songs to come from Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Leona Lewis, One Republic, Timbaland, Lisa Stansfield, The Fray, The Bellamy Brothers, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Deniece Williams. Also included are remakes of the 70’s disco favorite “Keep On Jumping”, the 90’s dance classic “Fine Day” and the current European smash hit “Hold That Sucker Down.” Rodriguez has also found a new gem with amazing energy in “Do It Yourself” from Uniting Nations that is certain to leave a lasting impression on fans of Centaur’s annual Pride album.
