Boycott Doug Manchester's Hotels NewsSAN DIEGO, CA (PRNewswire-USNewswire) — A broad based coalition of Gay and Lesbian Organizations and Labor will hold a demonstration and rally on Friday, July 18, 2008 in front of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel to officially kickoff a boycott of Doug Manchester’s San Diego Hotels.

Doug Manchester, CEO of the Manchester Financial Group of San Diego contributed $125,000 to qualify an Initiative Constitutional Amendment, Proposition 8 for the November 4th ballot which defines marriage as only between a man and a woman.

“We feel that if Mr. Manchester and any other individuals give huge amounts of money to take away our freedom to marry, then the LGBT community, our families and our friends should fight back against these purveyors of hate,” said Fred Karger, Campaign Manager of the newly formed Californians Against Hate.

Karger has said that they will identify the individuals and companies who funded the qualification of the initiative and who is funding the campaign itself on their web site: www.CaliforniansAgainstHate.com as soon as their names become available to them.

The March on Manchester was announced at a press conference last Thursday, in front of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel by a dozen LGBT, labor, civic and political leaders. These San Diego leaders are backing the Boycott and will be present on Friday.

“If our opponents are steadfast in their desire to take away our freedom to marry, then we will fight back. We do not want to spend our money at any business owned by supporters of this hateful initiative constitutional amendment that would then be used against us,” concluded Karger.
