‘Finding Me’, is a story of young gay man struggling with self-discovery, affirmation and love within the urban community. The film will screen at 4:30 p.m., October 18, at the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC, located at 1215 U Street, NW.

“This film is a labor of love and I’m so excited about the strides we continue to make,” said Roger S. Omeus, Jr., film director and writer. “Our selection into One in Ten’s Reel Affirmation 18 is a testament that film goers are ready for something fresh, positive and inspiring. We all can identify with one of the characters of this film.”

From first-time Haitian-American filmmaker Roger Omeus, Jr., comes this inspiring story self-acceptance, self-love and begin with a question, “What am I doing with my life?” Faybien Allen (Ray Martell Moore) begins his journey with this question and it defines every decision he makes. A homophobic father defines this young gay man world and a colorful cast of friends who he realizes are as flawed as he feels. However, when Faybien meets a man that proves there is life after ‘coming out’ it is revealed to him that he is worthy of love, respect, and happiness. His self-hate, love and relationships collide in a dramatic resolution that will leave him forever changed and reborn.

“We’re very excited about screening ‘Finding Me’ at Reel Affirmations this year,” said Margaret Murray, executive director of One in Ten. “We are always looking for new talent with a fresh perspective on not only filmmaking, but on the stories they tell – Roger has done amazing things in both regards with ‘Finding Me’.”

Early this year, ‘Finding Me’ presented its world premiere at the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and received high ratings from filmgoers and enthusiasts. In addition, fans swarmed the DC Black Pride Film Forum to catch a glimpse of the movie. Roger S. Omeus, Jr. is the executive producer and the film is also co-produced by Sontaia P. Briggs and has a running time of 1 hour and 50 minutes.
