WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRNewswire) — The 2009 International Gay and Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA) Gay Soccer World Championship, being held in Washington, D.C. from June 14-20, 2009, has launched IGLFA2009.org. The launch of the site has also opened registration for the 2009 amateur soccer tournament.

The launch of the website and registration is just the beginning for preparation of the 2009 Gay Soccer World Championships. The tournament is being planned and hosted in Washington, D.C. by the Federal Triangles Soccer Club (FTSC). The preliminary rounds of the tournament will be played at the Maryland Soccerplex, with the semi-finals and finals being played in Washington, D.C. In addition, FTSC is working closely with the Greater Washington Sports Alliance and Destination DC in the organization of events and venues for the tournament and related events.

The host committee for the tournament has arranged the following travel and accommodation partners:

- American Airlines, Avis Rental Car and Marriott Wardman Park.

2009 will be a great year of change in Washington, DC. IGLFA and FTSC are looking forward to welcoming GLBT soccer players, friends, and family from around the world to the DC region. This year’s tournament is uniquely placed in between the Gay Pride Celebrations in Washington DC (June 5-14, 2009) and Baltimore, MD (June 20-21, 2009).
