Nova Scotia Drink-o-pedia Consumed and Reviewed
Filed Under Books, Food & Drink | December 2nd, 2008
When I saw in my local bookstore a copy of the Nova Scotia drink-o-pedia by Graham Pilsworth, I just knew that I had to get myself a copy. Now that I live in Nova Scotia I thought that this book would get me up to speed on local drink history as well as some facts and trivia about Nova Scotia’s favorite drinks.
It truly is ‘a “spirited” look at the history of drinking in Nova Scotia’. I found the stories anecdotes and trivia fascinating and just plain fun. Graham goes into details about Rum, Beer, Wine, Whisky, Moonshine, Tea, Coffee, Soda and even Water but brings them alive – no boring entries in this drink-o-pedia.
I enjoyed reading the Nova Scotia drink-o-pedia while sipping a glass of JOST Marechal Foch, (a wonderful Nova Scotia wine by the way). But this book could be enjoyed just as well with a Hot Rum Toddy, a fine glass of Whisky, an India Pale Ale from Alexander Keith’s, a hot cup of Tea, or even a cup of Tim Horton’s coffee.
Nova Scotia drink-o-pedia is available from Amazon, directly from Nimbus Publishing and probably any bookstore that has a good selection of books from Nimbus.
