Loose Ends

I’ve been so overwhelmed with the amount of news and gossip to choose from this week. Here’s some headlines I’ve been meaning to post:

Celeb News:

- Jude Law happy with sexy Sherlock — Jude Law doesn’t think Hollywood writers “sexed up” Sherlock Holmes because filthy language, homo-erotic overtones and martial arts were always “alluded to” in Arthur Conan Doyle’s original books.

- A number of sites this week are reporting that a former ‘M*A*S*H’ star says he is gay. That would be, David Ogden Stiers, who played Major Charles Winchester. I always wondered about him…But here’s the thing about this storyGossip Boy published this interview a few months back, (March 11, 2009). All of the stories I’ve seen so far are all based on this specific interview. And, it doesn’t look like anyone has asked David Ogden Stiers or his publicist (if he has one) for confirmation. Looks like PEOPLE magazine got out scooped. Oh well, the genie is out of the bottle…On a related note, Greg in Hollywood is soliciting for more celebs to Come Out.

Plumbers: It had to be said…Joe the Plumber is Very Queer

Drag Queens:

- In the UK: Teen Drag Queen Jailed for Bomb Hoax(Apparently this isn’t Tammy Tampax’s 1st time…)

- Also in the UK/Web: ‘Outraged’ parents attack drag queen website (I wonder if this is all part of a grand plan to get publicity for said site?)

Corporate Affairs: McDonald’s Eats a Super-Sized Order of its Own Words in Kentucky — McDonald’s Agrees To Training and Settlement After Staff Called Gay Customers “Faggots”.

Russia Watch:

- Russian gays want parade before Eurovision final. (Through Moscow to the square in front of the former KGB HQ.)

- Lesbians to attempt first gay marriage in Russia. (A lesbian couple will try to defy deep-rooted Russian homophobia next week in the first attempt at a gay marriage with an interesting gambit even though rights activists say it will be rejected outright.)

Uganda Watch:

- IGLHRC on Uganda: Georgina Risks It All (Good article)

- More coverage: Uganda Gays Arrested, Blackmail Attempts Reported.
